Last year Julia, a second year Girl Advocate from the “Working Group on Girls” called for the improvement of gender disparity in girl’s education. She noted that girls are unfairly victimized more than boys, including the roles of girls during and after crises situations, the exploitation of girls in economically unstable situations, and the lack of sanitation materials for girls. She warned against giving funds to governments that only use the money to improve boys’ education and thereby, skew the data on universal education for both genders. Julia was also a moderator during the “Girls Tribunal on Violence” organized by the Working Group on Girls within civil society at the UN.
