After many years of teaching at the high school and university, I was forced by failing eyesight to consider a change in ministry. During a long retreat at Loyola House in the Guelph Centre of Spirituality I discerned the call to become a spiritual director and returned to Guelph for a nine-month training program. The program offered courses in theology, Ignatian spirituality, psychology and the skills needed for spiritual direction, along with practice under supervision. We were prepared to undertake ongoing spiritual direction as well as retreats from one to forty days.

It has been my joy to be invited back to Guelph as a guest director on many occasions. At present I am a staff member at Regis College, the Jesuit School of Theology in Toronto where I help facilitate a practicum that helps others to discern the call to be spiritual directors. It is a delight to assist adult women and men of diverse cultures and denominations to reflect on the richness of their life experience and to find God present in all.
