Our Spirituality

Loretto Sisters try to be attentive to the movements of God's Spirit in the world and like all Christians, they look to the life and ministry of Jesus as the source of their spirituality.

The IBVM founder, Mary Ward, wanted her companions to be directly involved with people in their unique circumstances, and to be women who are characterized by a spirit of freedom, sincerity, justice and joy. She encouraged her followers to be open and to discern the various movements of the times, “referring all things to God”, and always seeking what is the "greater good”.

Our spirituality seeks to foster an ever-deepening familiarity with God and a life of interior prayer. What suited her vision, and what has now become part of IBVM spirituality is the approach adopted by St. Ignatius of Loyola, who summed up his insights as “finding God in all things.” For both of these leaders daily life and the ordinary way of doing things was viewed as the place where God is at work in our lives and in our world.

GC 2022 Calls

Called at this time to deep listening and transformation:

We take personal responsibility for embracing the decision to "become one," as we encounter one another on the journey and claim the fullness of who we are called to be.
